Bridgend Athletic Tournament under 9's - Runners up

Congratulations to the under 9's for the second week running on coming runners up. This week we had the full squad of 13 to select from and ALL had very good game time, even in the final, which is very important at this age in rugby. The tournament was the usual round robin format and the results were as follows:
Game 1 Bridgend Ath LOST 4-0
Game 2 Newport HSOB WON 1-0 Scorer: Harry Ridge 1
Game 3 Dulais Valley Lions WON 8-1 Scorer's: Ed Biebach 2 Steffan Lewis 1 Shawn Jansen 1 Harry Ridge 4
Game 4 Tondu WON 5-3 Scorer's: Ed Biebach 1 Harry Ridge 2 Steffan Lewis 1 Shawn Jansen 1
Game 5 Fairwater WON 6-3 Scorer's: Shawn Jansen 1 Steffan Lewis 1 Ben Owen 1 Ed Biebach 1 Harry Ridge 2
Grand Final Bridgend Athletic LOST 5-1 Scorer: Kalafi Molikita

The tournament was virtualy a mirror image of the Llanelli tournament the previous week, the boys slow to start, playing the strongest team 1st, progressing well throughout and then playing the strongest team in the final, again running out of steam. The tournament was played, ref'd and supported in the right spirit of rugby and was enjoyed by all. Thank you to Bridgend Athletic for organising a well run event.

But again this is a testament of the hard work put in by the squad throughout their 1st season of contact and with some welome additions to the squad, I'm sure we will be able to compete with the strongest teams in the area on a regular basis. The gaps are narrowing. What was rewarding was the fact that everyone played and contributed to the day, no one was left out!!! We managed to get to the final without playing the rugby that we are capable of.

Thank you as well to Mama Molitika for stepping in last minute to do the customary presentations to both sides

u12s beat Kenfig Hill 22-17.

Tries were scored by Garin Lougher (2), Dominic Taylor & Sam Richards, with Sam converting 1. Excellent performance all round by every player, and a cracking way to finish off the season.
A special thanks from all the u12s coaches for the effort by every member of the squad, and the committment by the parents to bring their children along every week.
