The Sports won an entertaining game at the Bandstand played in glorious rugby weather. Both sides had something to prove as their previous games produced defeats for both by opposition they should have beaten.

The home team played open rugby from the kick-off. Rhys Dowling switched from flanker to scrum half and was intent on getting the three-quarters moving at every opportunity.
After 10 minutes, left wing Paul Carter was supplied with quick ball and he outpaced his opposite number to score in the corner. Nathan Townley converted with a fine kick from the touchline.
Two infringements from the Police in as many minutes allowed in in-form Townley to add two penalties.

The Sports found themselves under pressue in the ruck and an offside allowed Wayne Evans to open the police account with a penalty.
From the restart, the Sports exerted pressure on the Police and camped in their 22, thanks to returning captain Anthony Issac. A poor clearance allowed full-back Matthew Murphy to take a clean catch, chip over the defence and gather the ballto score a superb individual try under the posts.
Townley converted to make it 20-3 at the break.

Good yardage was made from Geraint Lewis and Mitch John early in the 2nd half and Gary Punter and Matthew Channel were having a hugh influence alongside No 8 Issac. It was well into the second half before Punter was held up over the line but made no mistake 2 minutes later when he drove over from 15yrds and Townley converted.

The Sports were now chasing a fourth try for a bonus point and turned down penalty kicks at goal for this reason.
With minutes left and some stern defence from the Police, Mitch John broke the visitors denfence and fed Townley on the burst. The outside-half was tackled near the line but popped the ball up to Murphy for his second try and a bonus point for the Sports.
Townleys conversion hit the post, thus denying him 100% record for the day. Had it not been for some poor finishing, the Sports could have scored more, but this form is what is needed for their next game at Porthcawl on March 1st.
