Sports 25 Rhydyfelin 17

On a great afternoon of fine weather, ideal for open rugby, at the Bandstand field, Bridgend Sports entertained a strong Rhydyfelin side. The size of the visitors was rather overwhelming as it seemed Jonah Lumo was on the left wing. The visitors opened the scoring and converted their efforts making the score after 10 minutes 0-7. However, although the Sports seemed a bit lethargic in this friendly encounter, it was Richard Byrne who responded with a fine try soon after. Townley missing the kick.

It was end to end rugby at this point and the huge Rhydyfelin left wing scored again which seemed to lift the Sports and with Michael ‘Mitch’ John back in the side they forced another try to make it 10 - 14 to the visitors at half time.
In the second half, it was Scott Narbeth who led the main attack, he scored two fine tries, neither of which Townley converted. The outside half had left his boots at home, or so it seemed.

A well taken penalty by Rhydyfelin pushed their lead but it was pressure from Narbeth, with another try and one from ‘Mitch’ that pushed the Sports to their fifth win of the season.
Although the running and driving of the Sports threes was impressive, there were elements of poor tackling that will have to be addressed before they meet the strong Pyle side next week.
