It was Townley who got the score moving with an early penalty after sustained Sports pressure.
He cut through the visitors defence for a classic individual try, his conversion hitting the posts.
From the re-start the Sports produced a good combined attack from which Gary Punter finished off with a fine try, the conversion again from Townley hitting the post.
Just before the break young Rhigos fly half Luke Williams made it 13-3 with his penalty.
The second half saw Rhigos starting strongly and reducing the deficit to 7 points with another Williams penalty.
This seemed to galvanise the home side when from the kick off the 'ever eager' Ryan Wallis charged down an attempted clearance and with the luck of the bounce followed through to score a opportunist try.
Rhigos did not give up in any way a came back again with another penalty by Williams. The Sports had the last say when a neat chip by Townley was gathered by Matthew Murphy who scored to earn the Sports a bonus point on top of the win.
Townley converted and ended a fine performance on the day.
