After just 3 minutes of play the Sports snatched a try when Roddy Boobyer side-stepped under the posts leaving Banwen in floundering, the try was converted by full back Jayce Evans. There were a series of scrumages with the Sports pack driving Banwen backwards and from these set pieces trying to bring their backs into the game. Banwen were consistently kicking for touch when against the run of play they received the ball, which drove the Sports backwards into their own half and then into their 25 where Banwen manufactured a try after 20 minutes by Dean Hughes who also made the conversion. Sports pulled Banwen into scrummages and Banwen were keen to fast-feed their backs as often as possible, taking the game away from the scrumages and driving the Sports back into heavy tackling and long kicks by their backs.
Then the Sports started to bring their backs into more of the game, a knock on by Banwen caused a scrummage on Banwen's 22 metre line and Sports got the ball to Roddy Boobyer who scored another try under the posts which was converted by Jayce Evans.
The Sports were settling down before half time and the high temperature was felt by Banwen as both sides were pressing each other when the Sports forwards gave a penalty to Banwen which brought the half time score to 14-13.
As the second half resumed the Sports players looked very much up to it, they drove Banwen team to their own try line where forward Phil John scored a remarkable individual try which brought Sport lead to 19-13 as no conversion was made. Banwen restarted and drove into Sports half of the field and the ref spotted some foul play from which he awarded a penalty to Banwen, however Dean Hughes missed the penalty by inches. The Sports and Banwen were both working hard in forwards and it was left to wing Ryan Morgan to pick up a Banwen kick in his own half and accelerate as far as Banwens twenty five where he was helped by his forwards and Jamie Lorrimer in particular which led to a fine try when he drove through the Banwen forwards passed the ball out to Richard Byrne who scored in the corner, there was no conversion making the score 24-13 to the Sports.
Jamie Lorrimer picked up an injury for his efforts but it was not serious enough to keep this stalwart out of the action. The Sports forwards continued their pressure and drove to Banwen's try line and Ryan Morgan scored a good try, out pacing the defence to bring the score line to 29-13.
Banwen were were not deterred and drove back in the Sports half and the ref awarded them a penalty in front of the posts which was converted by Dean Hughes, leaving the score 29-16. Sports drove Banwen back into their try line and initially failed to score any points but kept them in this area and Gareth Plaster scored a fine front row try which brought the score to 34-16
The final action of the match was when live wire full back Jayce Evans forced Banwen back on their try line and scored and cut through the threes to score a fine try leaving the final score 39-16 to Bridgend Sports.
