Pontyclun 10 Sports 2nd XV 52

Bridgend Sports 2nd XV continued their impressive start to the season with a comprehensive 52-10 victory against Pontyclun. In sunny conditions the Sports three quarter immediately opened up the play resulting in 2 tries for winger Pete Roberts, both of which he converted

Passive scrums resulted in a more expansive game and the Sports quickly took control. Some neat back line resulting in tries for Michael Johns (2) and Anthony Issacs to leave the half time score at 31 nil.

2nd half started much the same, as the Sports pack started to dominate loose play with prominent displays from Matthew Thomas, prop Tony Bowen and captain Justin Davies.

Indiscipline cost the Sports mid way through the half as both Chapman and Sawyer saw needless yellow cards brandished. This allowed Pontyclun to take upper hand in the ruck & maul area and some neat interplay from the home backline saw replacement centre Padden cross in the corner.

Moments later a quick tap penalty caught the Sports defence unaware and Pontyclun scored their second unconverted try.
Further tries from Ian Hearne and a hat trick try from Mitch John added gloss to the final scoreline. Another good all round performance from an improving Sports 2nds XV.
