Since joining the club in 2008, Aaron Ramsey has enjoyed a fairly successful career at Arsenal which includes 2 Community Shields and 3 FA Cup medals. However, after 10 years of service, the Welshman will be leaving the club.
It’s unclear where the midfielder will end up, but five times Champions League winners Bayern Munich, who are one of the competition favourites according to the Champions League odds, have emerged as the front-runners for his signature.
Whilst Ramsey will be looking for a new club, we’ll need to be looking for a suitable replacement. Here are five players we believe are suitable to replace the Welshman.

Although he is a fairly controversial character, French midfielder Adrien Rabiot could be a ready-made replacement for Aaron Ramsey. The highly rated midfielder has played over 200 games for PSG racking up a number of assists thanks to his excellent positioning and ability on the ball.
It’s also worth mentioning this his contract is set to expire at the end of the season, meaning that he’ll be available for free. The midfielder has been heavily linked to Spanish side Barcelona in the past few weeks, but Emery coached Rabiot during his time at PSG and could tempt him to reunite in London next season.
Like Rabiot, our next potential Ramsey replacement comes from France. Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar might only be 20 years old, but he has been touted as a future star. The youngster has been at the club since he was 11 years old and eventually broke into the first team in the second half of the 2016-17 season.
Since then, the Frenchman has impressed for the club and has racked up five goals and four assists this season. There’s no doubt that the signing of Aouar would be an excellent one, but it is unclear whether the club would want to make the signing considering the number of prospects in the youth academy who look ready to make the jump into the first team in the near future.
A few years ago, Julian Weigl was the future of Borussia Dortmund. The then 19 year old had enjoyed a successful season at 1860 Munich and earned himself a move to one of Germany’s top clubs. It was widely expected that the defensive midfielder would be a bench player at best, but the defensive midfielder became a key player in Thomas Tuchel’s plan and ended up making 51 appearances in his debut season.
However, the arrival of Axel Witsel and Thomas Delaney in the summer has left him on the bench with very few minutes of game time. Even though this would be a fantastic signing, his expensive price tag and the fact he plays in the same position as Lucas Torreira means that this move is unlikely to happen.
There have been a number of Arsenal players that have played for Villarreal at some point in their career, such as Santi Cazorla and Gabriel Paulista. If the rumours are true, Pablo Fornals could be the next Villarreal player to join the Gunners. The 22 year old made only his second appearance for his country during the most recent international break, and has been one of the very few bright sparks for his club this season. His rumoured £17.5 million fee is a bargain in the current market and Arsenal would do well to secure his signature.
Rather than splashing the cash on a new player, Emery could decide to look into the youth team and promote one of the promising youngsters that are coming through. Hailed by Arsenal fans as ‘The English Pogba’, Joe Willock has been impressive in the youth team for a number of years and has started making brief appearances in the first team. However, it’s his lack of competitive senior football which seem to be holding him back. A rumoured loan move to Sunderland could be the move he needs to get his senior career kick-started and eventually become a first team regular.
