Chelsea have officially announced that they have completed the move for their new coach, Maurizio Sarri. The Italian move to the Bridge in a double swoop deal which include midfielder, Jorginho moving with him. The pair joined Chelsea in a £57.7m deal.
Chelsea made the announcement for Sari first before announcing the Jorginho deal hours later. His arrival put to an end Antonio Conte’s two year reign at the Bridge where he won the premier league in his first season and the FA cup in the just concluded season.
Sarri is joining after spending three years at Napoli. He was the man in charge that made Napoli finish second in the league, just behind Juventus last season. This made him to be announced as the coach of the season in Serie A last season.
The 59 year old Italian signed a three year deal with the Blues and will be charge to take Chelsea back to the champions league after the 2017chqmpions finished outside the top four and will settle for a place in the Europa league.
Maurizio Sari is now the six Italian manager to coach Chelsea and the fifth under the ownership of Roman Abrahamovic and also the 13th manager under his watch. The Chelsea owner is trusting that Sarri will be capable returning the club back to the zenith of the league.
In his press conference, he said as quoted by Telegraph: “I am very happy to be coming to Chelsea and the Premier League. It is an exciting new period in my career.
“I look forward to starting work and meeting the players on Monday ahead of travelling to Australia, where I will be able to get to know the squad and begin our match action.
“I hope we can provide some entertaining football for our fans, and that we will be competing for trophies at the end of the season, which is what this club deserves.”
His first game in charge will be in the friendly with Perth Glory on July 23rd.
