Antonio Conte: Rivals must find a way to challenge Manchester City

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has admitted that rival clubs must find a way to challenge Premier League leaders Manchester City.

The Citizens have enjoyed a brilliant start to the season having won all of their matches barring the 1-1 draw at home to Everton in the early stage of the season, the Pep Guardiola led side are currently on a record-breaking 15 games winning streak and lead the Premier League table by 11 points.

The swashbuckling and possesive-based attacking football has seen the Premier League bowed to the Pep Guardiola’s philosophy, the Citizens have dominated and defeated all their top six rivals in domineering fashion and the looks unstoppable at the moment.

Manchester City are running away with the title but Antonio Conte believes top rivals must wake up in an attempt to halt the Citizens title charge.

Speaking on Premier League leaders Manchester City, he said:

“We must try to find the right solution to contend the title, to try to fight them. Not only Chelsea, but the five top teams,” He also added.

“Manchester City are not a surprise for me. At the start of the season all the people said the league was for two contenders – Man City and Manchester United.

“During the transfer market they reached their targets. We must pay great attention, not only in England, because Man City is building a strong team to lead in Europe.”

Despite winning their last seven out of nine games in the Premier League, the Premier League Champions still find themselves 14 points adrift leaders Manchester City wbo have maintained an unbeaten start to the season.

Antonio Conte led the Blues to their second Premier League title in three years in his debut season last term, but with Manchester City running away with the title, the 48-year- old might have to settle for a top four finish as the only team that can stop the Pep Guardiola led side is themselves.

Chelsea welcome 11th placed Southampton to the Bridge on Saturday and will be hoping to close the gap on rivals Manchester United who are in second place should they defeat the Saints.
