Tottenham made a huge statement of intent in the race for the top 4 after defeating South Coast club, Bournemouth at The Vitality stadium after coming back from a goal down to beat the Cherries. Heung-Min Son scored twice, with the likes of Dele Alli and Serge Aurier helping Mauricio Pochettino’s men take all three points, though Harry Kane’s ankle injury late on put a dent on the victory.
Eddie Howe’s men took a shock lead in the 7 th minute through Junior Stanislas, who put the home side following a brilliant counter-attacking move.
Kane then had the ball in the net, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside but Tottenham pressed ahead for the equalizer and duly scored in the 35 th minute when Dele Alli turned home Aurier’s low cross. It was the Englishman’s first goal in 15 games.
At that point, Tottenham had the momentum and took the lead for the first time in the game when Son scored in the 62 nd minute following good work from Alli.
Son made sure of the result with his second goal in the 87th minute after he rounded Asmir Begovic while Aurier added gloss to the result with a far-post header late on.
Son continues his fine form as he now has six goals in his last four matches. Howe made one change with Mousset coming in for Josh King while for Mauricio Pochettino, Aurier, Rose and Wanyama came in for Trippier, Davies and Dier.
The result means Spurs are now unbeaten in their last 12 matches, while Bournemouth have failed to beat Spurs in six Premier League meetings and have lost 19 points from leading positions this season. Bournemouth host West Brom on March 17 in a 3pm kick-off. Tottenham, meanwhile, travel to Swansea for their FA Cup quarter-final tie on
the same day (12.15pm).
